Singer, Shekhar, lives in Darjeeling with his widowed mom, and is in love with Rita, the daughter of wealthy Rai Bahadur Digamberprasad Rai, who dislikes him, and wants his daughter to marry a wealthy Calcutta-based businessman, Chowdhry.
