The Prodigal Son" (1968) is a semi-autobiographical Israeli black-and-white drama directed by Yosef Shalhin that follows a 13-year-old boy (played by the director’s son, Shaul Shalhin) who runs away from his home in 1930s Be'er Ya'akov to wander across the country in a search for his place in the world.
